The Press Publishers’ Right is a new exclusive right for press publishers, introduced in Article 15 of the recently adopted EU Directive on Copyright in the DSM. It provides publishers with an exclusive right to authorise or prohibit the online use of their press publications by information society service providers for a period of two years after publication. While this provision is aimed at strengthening the position of press publishers, it may negatively affect journalists. The ILP Lab is partnering with the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Journalisten (NVJ) to help journalists navigate this new right.
